The BEST Fourth of July Ever!!!

After getting a little cleaning done & part of the lawn mowed,
dad & I went to the ward Fourth of July Breakfast. There was
more food there than anyone could ever eat. In fact the breakfast
was advertized by telling the Priesthood that there would be so much
bacon that they could eat all they wanted! It worked- there
were lots of people there. Then we went to the activity that made
this such a special day. A member of the ward, Jorge Mueller,
who is from Germany, became a citizen today. It was the 21st
annual naturalization ceremony held on the Fourth in Phoenix.

187 people became the newest citizens & were from
58 countries. The program started with the National
Anthem. Normally, that would be followed by the
Pledge of Allegiance but that was delayed until later
in the program. As I thought about it, how wonderful
for this new group of citizens to give the pledge to the
flag for the very first time as new citizens of the
United States! It brought a tear to dad's eyes & a few
tears to mine. What a truly inspirational day- it
made us grateful to be living here & to be citizens of
this great country.

Here is Brother Mueller- I have never seen such a
huge grin on his face!

And here is our fun little group who
went to support Bro. Mueller & his
family.

This seems like the best way I can think of to celebrate Independence Day. What a neat experience.
