On To Parowan!

On Friday we went to Parowan-Joey was sure ready &
excited for Christmas!

Michael found this huge icicle & posed in their
front yard. What a pretty decorated tree.

We took a drive to hunt for "Big Buck"- we didn't find
him but we did see 11 deer. (Oops, Dad just reminded
me that we did see the back of Big Buck jumping over
a fence.) Mike got some yummy pizza for dinner & we
opened some early presents. The babies especially
liked the cookies!

Dad spent lots of time putting together Michael's
wood motorcycle that had a "ton" of pieces- who
got that for Michael anyway? Mike helps put
together Joey's airplane. Fun times.

On Christmas Eve, Mike led the way for their tradition of
making snow angels. Only problem was that it was by
Team Skin!

Alissa did it barefoot!!!

Joey & Michael made their angels . Brrrrrrr!

This didn't look like much fun to Adelyn but she
braved the cold. Everyone was rewarded by opening
one present early! (Don't look for pictures of us
in that cold stuff!!! We're not used to temps below
70 degrees!!!!)

It was sure hard to sleep knowing that Christmas
was the next morning.

Mike was the first one up & found the very special
guitar that Santa brought for him. He had fun
testing it out to wake up the kids.

Adelyn loved her new light up doll... and Braden
& Nelson were pretty entranced also.

Michael had fun with a special guitar given by a
friend. This will be a musical family.

Alissa got fancy new boots from Santa- just what
she wanted!

Dad got to give the boys their first taste
of ice cream. It was a love/hate relationship-
one baby loved it & one baby made faces.

We were treated great by both the Nay and Crockett
families. It made a wonderful Christmas for us.
After such a fun trip, we left for Phoenix on Tuesday
& returned to see sunny skies and hot air balloons!
We counted over a dozen and even saw one glider.
Awwwww- good old Arizona once again!

Christmas Holiday

For the first time in over 40 years, we travelled away
from Phoenix for the Christmas holidays! We started in
Centerfield with Tyler & Ruth & girls, and got there
Wednesday night. This is the unexpected surprise we
got the next morning. What a change from Phoenix!!!
Did we bring enough warm clothes???

It was fun to visit & open some presents early. Evie
had fun with the dolls.

What a cozy home & a fun family.

Savannah put on her makeup and then helped make
Evie look bea-u-tiful! Look at those eyes and the blush!

I got to enjoy the Maverik hot chocolate. Dad says
that I make it with 1/2 carmel flavoring! YUM!
It was time to leave Centerfield...the only problem
was that we didn't get to meet Baby Nay. When
will he/she arrive?????

This Is December????

This is what happens when it is December and
you live in Phoenix. Lots of roses bloom!

All colors and sizes!

They can tell that the heat is gone for a short while.

And even the citrus is looking pretty. No snow here!!!

Mama Kitty

The last couple days we could tell that Mama Kitty
was having trouble walking and was sore. She died
this morning. Ruth got her as a Christmas present
18 years ago (1993) & she has been a part of this home.
Ruth said this was "the best Christmas present ever."
She even took kitty in her pocket on our trip to Utah.

Cinder felt like she was her baby & they would
curl up together.

In fact, she would curl up around Ruth's neck.

She was only called Mama Kitty- no other name.
I think Cinder felt like a proud parent.

We put Mama Kitty next to Cinder & Lady Jane
in the back yard- Cinder will be surrounded
by cats in the Resurrection. Just kind of makes you smile.

The Camping Crockett & Chop, Chop, Chop

What a fun birthday night. We celebrated Don
& Carole's birthdays on Monday at Don's house.
Don got a camelback, which he loved, and a topo
map for hiking & camping with the Scouts- now
he won't get lost! He got plenty of candy- he
has a real sweet tooth. We also decided that Don
loves to clown around for pictures! There are
lots of pictures of Don with something on his head-
this time it is the birthday crown.

Carole was surprised to get something she
has wanted- a "Be The Chef" gift certificate.
She will learn the tricks of Japanese cuisine &
become a "knife-wielding, joke-telling chef"
using santoku knives. She posed with the gift
knives in the Benihana pose. We kept hearing
her say "chop, chop, chop" during the night.

Samuel tried out the pose also...but with forks.
Whew!

Don got a new game, Uno Tippo, which we played
after dinner. This game has lots of potential fun.

Each time the cards tipped out, there was a loud,
collective "ohhhhhhhh" from the group. Elijah
was pretty good at predicting when it would tip,
and Carole got pretty good at figuring out how to
get it not to tip.
