Merry Christmas 2013 in Phoenix!!!

For Christmas Eve, Don and Adrianne invited us over for their traditional Chinese dinner. This is always so much fun, partly because it is a special dinner using Chinese dishes and seated at the formal dining room table. This is a super good dinner with egg drop soup to start the meal and about 8 different entree choices. Carole made a cold cranberry drink and we brought a strawberry cheesecake for dessert.

Here is sweet Myra in front of their tree.

The Crocketts broke their tradition and agreed to open our presents to them on Christmas Eve.

One of the stories at the dinner table was how Don got a "special" present one Christmas when he was in Jr. High at Greenway. Since the boys had so many pj's, I got them new underwear. What made these so "special" was that I used red liquid embroidery on one side to print "I love you" using a heart for the word love. I guess this is embarrassing when you are twelve and so this underwear was stuffed in the back of the drawer until one day when Don had run out of clean underwear. That was really no problem except that he forgot he had these on when he changed out for P.E. in front of all the boys in class. Elijah and Samuel were just laughing and laughing at this story. Then their eyes got big when I said that maybe there was new underwear in the present box that we had brought over. Then they laughed again and again. Emma helped me get a clean pair for each of the boys and wrap them up so here are the pictures of them opening these special presents and then "trying them on".

Christmas Day was a nice, calm day. Carole came over and followed her tradition of making our bacon and egg breakfast...but we ate at noon. We leisurely opened our presents, talked with family, took naps, and then watched a movie while we ate our dinner. What a wonderful couple days!
